The Friends of the U.S.S. Cassin Young (FOTCY) is a 501(c)(3) organization established to support the men and women who volunteer their time and expertise to the National Park Service (NPS) to maintain, interpret, and improve the U.S.S. Cassin Young. USS Cassin Young volunteer website.
The U.S.S. Cassin Young DD 793 is a World War 2 Fletcher-class destroyer that served in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1960. She fought in many actions in World War 2 and was damaged by Japanese Kamikaze aircraft on two separate occasions resulting in significant loss of life to the crew. National Park Service website. FOTCY supports the volunteers by providing the tools needed to continue to maintain and improve the visitor experience aboard the Cassin Young. Some of the support provided by FOTCY includes purchasing supplies and tools, providing volunteers with uniforms and work clothing, developing and maintaining exhibits, and improving the overall visitor experience.
